After the vote, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, co-Chair of the ALDE-RO said: "This vote means primarily a confidence vote for the liberal values that we represent, for democracy, for freedom, for stric respect of the rights of the individual.” Daniel Constantin, ALDE co-chair added: "We promise you what we talked in the campaign are not just empty words – they are things that we will focus on from tomorrow, we will implement them in Parliament and if things are going in desirable direction in Romanian Government [too].”
The party announced that “with the validation of the new parliament [mandates] early next week, it will become clear whether a political party holds an absolute majority of seats or if an alliance of parties would clearly constitute such a majority.” President Klaus Iohannis invited ALDE-RO to participate in consultations to form the Government, which the party called “welcome initiative” but reckons “premature”. The party will enter in possible coalition talks with the winning Social Democratic Party after the confirmation of the parliament.
