LI President Congratulates Slovenian Liberals
Liberal International's President, Hans van Baalen MEP, has today written to Slovenia's new Prime Minister, H.E. Alenka Bratušek, to congratulate her on her appointment following the formation of a new government.
Mr van Baalen emphasised Ms Bratušek's liberal credentials and referred to the close relationship between Liberal International and Slovenia over the past two decades of Slovenian democracy.
The President also wrote to Roman Jakič, who became Minister of Defence following the transition of power. Mr Jakič, a former Vice-President of the International Federation of Liberal Youth (LI Full Member) and is now ALDE (LI Full Member) treasurer, was also a frequent delegate at Liberal International Congresses.
The successful transition of Slovenia serves as an inspiration for debates at the upcoming Executive Committee in Beirut.
